Recipe: Ash's Summer Sangria

Yeah I love that Sangria wine
Just like I love old friends of mine
They tell the truth when they're mixed with the wine
That's why I blend in the lemons and limes

A couple years ago I was having a party, and searched long and hard for the perfect sangria recipe because face it, what girl in their mid twenties doesn't love sangria. I ended up combining things from a few different recipes in order to make the perfect blend. Every time I make it I get asked over and over for the recipe, so I wanted to share my secret serum with you all before summer officially starts.  I try to stick to the measurements pretty accurately. I find a good sangria is really all about having the right ratio of ingredients. You don't want it too sweet or too sour, or to taste too much like regular wine. I also do not put ice into it because it really waters it down. I got the below containers at Christmas Tree Shop and they are great because they have a frozen ice-pack center that you freeze the night before and then screw into the lid to keep it cold. Feel free to adjust it if you want to and to use different fruits, but the following is how I prefer to make it.
 Ashley's Summer Sangria
1.5 liters red wine (I use Carlo Rossi Sangria)
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup white wine (Sauvignon Blanc/mild white)
1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup triple sec
slices of limes, lemons, oranges (cut two of each fruit into small slices and squeeze juice from each piece into mix before putting the whole piece into sangria)

You can see the center ice-pack in this last photo on the right...

Happy Summer everyone!
